BIO:
I started teaching a few years ago because I thought I’d be good at it. I wanted to challenge and express myself. And I knew I loved the work it would involve. Some nights, and this still happens, I felt too excited for the workout the next day that I had trouble sleeping. The thought of Pushups and squats and tap presses and chatturangas kept me up. Instead of wondering whether I was crazy, I accepted an opportunity to share this enthusiasm for movement and music with others. I quickly learned, by a series of small failures, that it takes much more than physical ability, exuberance, and a good ear to be an impactful instructor. And that’s what I do hope I’m always in the process of becoming.
Enter Studio One. Come one, come all, be yourself, move the way you want to move, laugh, cry, be silent in the back row, be untidy in the front…. This is the place I’m meant to be. On the bike is where I’m meant to be. I love nothing more. It is my hope that I can help or inspire others to feel more comfortable letting it all out, to move in a way that feels a bit more free and unguarded, to push harder, to allow the body’s ‘yes’ to override the head’s ‘no’, to self-surprise. In these seemingly small ways we can really learn what we’re made of. Together. And that’s an education I take pretty seriously. Not too seriously, of course. It’s only life— But let’s become as strong as possible while we’re living it.
